Sorry about your guys’ internet problems, but much thanks to getting the show out! And thanks for keeping talk of the New Zealand-Bahrain game to a minimum. That game was absolutely dire. But good on for New Zealand for making the world cup.
Poor Ireland. With the offside and the cheating Henry, conspiracy theorists about fifa wanting France (and big world cup sponsor adidas wanting France) will start talking. Something needs to be done. Maybe not video replay, but something. But will stubborn neo-luddite platini, benefactor of Henry’s cheating, want to do something about it now? Unlikely!
The Russia-Slovenia game was intense, shows how crucial that late away goal in the first leg was. Dubious sendings-off though, felt maybe at most the attempt on the keeper (who wasn’t in control of the ball) was a yellow.
Can’t say I’m disappointed that van persie got injured, as it dents arsenal’s title chances, but I am disappointed that he chose a gypsy witch doctor to rub horse placenta on him. Beat.
I agree with you guys, lahm would be a great addition to uniteds defense. With his statements recently getting him fined by bayern, hopefully seeds of discontent can be sown and his head can be turned. Gotta do something about his near uni-brow though. Bosingwa’s too.
Can’t wait for the city-liverpool game. I guess a draw would be best, keeping a win away from both teams, but if liverpool lose I won’t mind lol. City have the firepower to score, but they’ve been drawing constantly, so I’m thinking a highscoring draw.
Zola might replace brown at the top of the sack race after this weekend. But like you Chris, I think west ham will beat hull. Paul McShane is the Irish hull player (and he promptly came on late last night and got a booking within a few minutes).
I think the everton game for united this weekend could be tricky. I’m hoping saha doesn’t come back and haunt us.
It’s Barcelona that’s after fabregas, Chris, not real. Fabregas has loved barca since being a kid (and I believe he is catalonian), so he could be tempted, especially if he doesn’t win any trophies at arsenal.
I agree with you mark, if hull get 0 points with Saturday’s game and Wednesday’s game, Phil brown is gone. And against everton on Wednesday, its not looking like points for hull in that game.
Jason, you’re right Fabregas is Catalonian and whilst Real also appear to be interested, clearly that is not an option!
What’s interesting is that Fabregas was a junior at Barca when Arsenal signed him. So do we read into that that Wenger recognised talent that Barca didn’t, or that Wenger has developed that talent far beyond what Barca had thought possible?
The long and short is that Barca may well have to shell out 50m to get back a player they had for free. Ouch!
