Show 16 :: RSVP RVP…

Well, true to form our tips of an Arsenal upset went out of the window and the Gunners were beaten handily in the end. For all we like watching Arsenal (most seasons in recent memory to be honest) we can’t help but, feel that Arsenal are missing their top striker to distraction and how forgetting to score without him could be an unlikely start to their wobbles. We hope the flowing football continues but Please Mr Wenger – more goals. Listen to us on that topic and more in this Show 16.

you guys are spot on, rvp being out for basically the rest of the season will end arsenal’s title hopes. i am thinking that the title of this show should be ‘RIP’ RVP lol, as his world cup spot/form is on the line now too.

everton were unlucky not to draw the liverpool derby, but both teams were fairly poor. i’m glad that rafa has decided the game ‘kickstarted’ liverpool’s season, as they are out of the champions league, already out of the carling cup, and the league 1/3 over. have fun in that europa league scousers!

where will moyes go if he leaves? his talk about burnout and taking everton as far as they can go shows he is aching to leave, but there is no higher team he can go to i dont think.

jimmy bullard’s celebration was epic. one of the best i’ve ever seen. you guys are right, bullard is the key to hull’s turnaround. if they stay up, bullard will be the one to do it.

the podcast cut out a couple of times, one time for 30 seconds. but no big deal. i was just waiting with baited breath haha. thankfully i didn’t miss mark’s ‘wolves & toothless’ gag lol.

city’s draw-tastic extravaganza is going to put a top 6 spot in jeopardy. simple math tells you that over 7 games, 3 wins and 4 losses gets you more points than 7 draws. city are scoring well, but just can’t seem to get the winning mentality, like you guys said, they can’t play 90 minutes. i don’t think sparky will be in trouble though, he will last the year at least.

chris, i am disappointed with your ‘cheating’ at tipping. you must now choose stoke to beat arsenal at the emirates this weekend in order to even it out lol. i say this only in order to drag you down to mid table in the tipping comp, as i am dropping week by week :(

this liverpool-blackburn game seems to me that it could be a good game since blackburn is at home. blackburn will be riding high after the win against an A-/B+ chelsea side last night, and liverpool might not want to risk the returning torres or gerrard against the tough-tackling rovers.

chris, you asked ‘whatever is worse than dire straits’. the answer: nothing, because no band is worse than dire straits. haha.

Great show as always. I have nothing enlightening to add. Chelsea will win the league in a very anticlimactic fashion….which will be to bad. Arsenal will still end up comfortably in the top 4. It’s too bad that RVP has that much impact. That’s the problem with impact players…they hurt you tremendously when they get injured.
Speaking of….Bullard is the man. There is still a place in my heart for him, as a Fulham fan. Best of luck to Jimmy!
Wolves….yes, I don’t even know who they are and how they play…they have no spark. Well except for a stellar US goalkeeper – who, by the way, does not seem to play a factor in the USA World Cup ambitions. It’s always Howard, Guzan, and someone else. I thought Hahnemann was great when he played for Reading. Oh well.
I assume you will touch on the World Cup Draw next week. What happens if Australia gets drawn into a group with Italy? That could spark some bad history…right? And, will Australians root for New Zealand as a sign of Oceania solidarity? As a USA fan, I root against Mexico any chance I get. Although I wouldn’t might Honduras surprising some people.
England is seeded, so it’s possible they can avoid a group of death. All in all, there is no real whipping boy in the world cup…no Andorra, etc. Even the African teams could push late into the bracket playing for pride on home soil (sort of). Look forward to the next show.

Ok. So I’ll be rooting for England this summer…..except in their first match. Go USA!
However, if their last match up (friendly) is any indication, England might have a harder time against Slovenia than the US.
So who is your surprise first round casualty, and surprise first round victor?
For me it’s Serbia in Group D going through (is that a surprise?)
…and I feel that France might trip up in Group A
