Show 19 :: The Pre-Christmas Show
A late change to our line-up as Andrew replaces Mark as striking partner for a week that saw Arsenal make-up yet more ground on the top 2, Mark Hughes get the sack despite having a better record than Rafa and Mick McMcarthy emerge from a torrid few days with a smile as wide as a goalmouth.

Good show this week. Thanks for putting one out and taking time from your holidays! Seems like mark was already on his lol. But Andrew did a great job coming off the bench.
Merry Christmas,
Jason
As always, a good show. As a Fulham fan, I’m a bit disappointed that Mark was away for this episode. It’s not often that the Cottagers whomp Man U 3-0. I fully admit that Man U are the better side 8 days out of ten. However, if I may have my moment – the last two matches at Craven Cottage = Fulham 5, Man U 0. And yes, Mark, you had a defense that was not a defense. Fulham has a knack for playing sides with depleted squads!
Now that I got that out of my system…I can’t make heads or tails of this season. (I’m writing this post-boxing day) Chelsea are held by…..Birmingham? I mean I know that Birmingham are exceeding expectations this season, but really!? Man City make it look easy against Stoke, Burnley don’t win at home, and Liverpool decide to play ball. For the latter I guess they need to play against ten men in order to score. Ouch.
I, like bench-player-made-starter Andrew, have put too much confidence in Chelsea. Really I think is comes from watching too many matches where Chelsea are clicking. When they play like the top team in English football, they are scary good. Chelsea have the ability to make other teams look like my pee-wee soccer team circa 1983. No contest. So I get confused when Chelsea slip up to non-top four teams. Regardless of what happens in the next couple of match days, this season will probably come down to the wire.
Add to that, I have no idea who will drop down. The top 9 teams seem to be in pretty good shape. However Sunderland at 10th has only 22 points. Bolton in the drop zone has 17. Aside from Birmingham, none of the teams slated early on for relegation are doing much to march towards safety.
That’s all I’ve got. Thanks to the Salt Lake City airport for free wi-fi!
Looking forward to the 2010 shows!
