Show 21 :: Happy 2010…
Well, the first show of 2010 (Twenty Ten) and wouldn’t you know it – weather-enforced Winter break! It seems we’ve all had a lull – not many transfers, not many games(!) and well, no AGOTH but, we’re back with all the grit and salt required to sweep away the inclemency and restore normal football programming in this Show 21 (that’s right – we skipped one) of the season.

Its a tragedy what happened to the togo players, and my prayers out to the families of
those who died. But Phil Brown is making himself look like a fool to question the world
cup security in South Africa.
You’re right Chris, not much happened during the English “winter break”, except
United continuing very ordinary form. The pileup of fixtures will cause most teams a
hassle later.
I might agree that the type of player Vieira WAS is what City need, but Vieira hasn’t
been the same player for a while, and he won’t cut it in the premier league. Sol Campbell
might fare better, as you can get away with putting a slow geezer in the center back
position.
I feel a bit sorry for Megson, but I don’t have a problem with the fans voicing their
opinion and. getting a manager fired. If they are wrong, then they’ll pay the
consequences. And I think in this case Bolton fans were wrong and they’ll likely be
relegated.
Some journalists have made the valid point that: why is it allowed to have a manager
leave one time and take all the inside knowledge of them and go to another team in the
same league? Seems a bit unfair?
I think Coyle jumping the. burnley ship will spell the end for burnley in the premier
league too (which, adding in portsmouth, are my new relegation pick).
Loved the phone ringing in the background, it reminds me of the personal touch of the
agoth podcast.
You’re right Chris, the “fit and proper” test lacks all meaning, as it
basically is “I have money” “okay, we’ll take your word for it”
A point at Birmingham is a decent result for United right now considering Birmingham’s
form. But the problem is that Birmingham’s form will very likely drop (running out of
steam) by the time arsenal goes to St Andrews.
You both are right, Liverpool is going to have a tough time now to get that 4th spot, as the sheer number of teams battling for it exponentially increases the difficulty. I think Rafa will be gone by the end of the season, even if they somehow scrape into the 4th spot.
No mention whatsoever of Landon Donovan’s debut for Everton?!?!? Haha I’m just kidding. He played decently but the soccer media in the US here has been going a bit overboard.
Glad to have the podcast back!

Wow. I was going through AGOTH withdrawal. Thanks for appeasing my football listening habit. Like most of my posts, I have nothing profound to say…
Just as Newcastle was “Too big to fail”….and then went down. Liverpool WILL end up out of European football for the next season. And I mean ALL European football. It will happen down the stretch as we all, with unbelieving eyes, watch them continue to implode. I’m not even sure if there is a silver lining. The whole club needs a makeover. And how can you not fire Benitez! Far better managers have been fired for far less in the Premiership.
Yes, the squad has talented players, but no sense of a united team. Oh, and it might have been confirmed after you recorded this show, but Torres is out for a long time. Liverpool is in big big trouble.
