Show 27 :: Back and Beyond…
A truly international flavour to this our first show in two weeks with Chris on the other side of the Tasman Sea on another island (in NZ – on business) but plenty of talking points with the constant league position jostling (across 3 points islands!), european tidbits and the madness that is the proposed playoff for the non-automatic qualifying Champions League spot. Madness in our books – and you’d be mad to miss this Show 27 Download mp3

Great to have the show back. Especially now that European football is hotting up. Sir Alex is right about the midweek game making united tired against everton, but everton played a midweek European too! So at most, both sides were knackered. Everton were better than united on the day, that’s what it boils down to.
I think it makes the league more exciting that the top teams are losing more games, because they’re drawing less games too!
The race for 4th is getting very intense, with villa an spurs gaining points after the uninspiring city-liverpool borefest. I think city are in the driving seat, with the game in hand and now having to focus solely on the league (since they blew a good chance at the cup with losing to stoke).
You guys might not have any listeners in New Zealand, but you probably also have none now in Scotland with Mark’s damning indictment of Scottish football (“getting yellows is an apprenticeship”) lol. Poor Scottish football!
You guys are spot on about megson and coyle. Methinks both bolton and burnley might go down.
Boaz Myhill is the wonderful hull keeper. How to remember his name: biblical stories!
How did you forget about the carling cup final! That’s why united played west ham midweek. Villa didn’t play a league game midweek because had FA cup replay.
News just broke that Wayne Bridge is ruling himself out of the England squad. So I guess he doesn’t want to play in the world cup!
These “parenthood emergencies” are dubious. More concrete reasons for not putting out agoth are necessary. Haha. I’m kidding of course. Hope everything is okay. I would take just one agoth a year, better than nothing!
The playoff system proposed for the 4th champions league place seems like a good idea, but I don’t think 6-7th would stand a chance against 4-5th, and even if they do, then the weaker team would probably end up lowering England’s coefficient (ending up with no 4th spot at all).
