Show 29 :: A Mixed Grill…

Well, this week’s a long one – we don’t do them that often(!) but, perhaps we’re not totally to blame considering the milieu we’re in at the moment. There’s league intrigue top and bottom – some teams are 3 games behind, UCL action with another week to come before we see the draw for the quarter finals, Pompey’s charge into the last 4 of the FA Cup against all odds (both footballing and financial), a knockout blow for Goal Line Technology in the game, and the list goes on. Put the kettle on and fill a teapot and settle in for this Show 29.

    Great bumper show this week!

    Your “the rescuers” remark made me think of “the rescuers down under” Chris, one of my fave childhood movies.

    Pompey in the fa cup semis is nice, but they won’t survive relegation with the deduction.

    I don’t mind there not being goal-line technology. If it comes in, I wouldn’t mind it either. I see football as what it is: a game, nothing more. I follow it passionately, yes, but I don’t raise it on a pedestal above more important things in life. Wrong decisions happen everywhere in life, and sporting wrong decisions DON’T MATTER. But that’s just my view. Once again, I really don’t care either way.
    Poor Mickey Owen. I think united won’t re-up a contract with him. I think Owen will leave England to either America or maybe Australia. He isn’t that old in years, but he started early and played many games early in his career.

    Donovan playing in England will make him better as an international player, including against England in South Africa, you guys are definitely right about that. MLS is just bluffing right now, I think they’ll let Donovan stay a little while past his loan date. Especially considering the MLS CBA talk isn’t going anywhere I don’t think.

    Glad to see scholesy get his hundredth premier league goal. Mark is right about the ginger prince looking done and dusted a couple of years ago, but I think that eye problem he had was the root of that. But scholes still can’t see that sometimes he shouldn’t go into a tackle!

    I’d agree with you Chris that Schwarzer is the best kangaroo to ever play football. But glamorous outfield players like cahill and kewell would be voted it I think.

    Love that skype spam. Was it one of those “sexy lady wants to chat” ones Chris? Lol.

    Liverpool’s poor performance against a good but not great wigan side means no more chance at the 4th spot I don’t think. N’Zogbia for England is clever, but I think there won’t be much clamoring for it. Either Torres or gerrard will go if liverpool aren’t playing in the champions league next year, and who cares about over-the-hill Carra…

    I noticed you remembered boaz’s name today Chris!

    I’m worried about the fulham match this weekend for united too mark, as they’re sort of a bogey team for united. But I think fulham’s trip to Italy on Thursday will tire them out.

    This just in: liverpool lose 1-0 to lille. Awesome. Maybe they can lose to pompey this weekend too! Haha, probably not. But one can wish.

    Benitez hasn’t been in a coaching role with Madrid since the mid-90s, but yeah I think he was number 2 there for a while. He came from managing valencia most recently. And he’ll go back to Spain after this season…

    That was quite a long talk about the wolves-burnley game! But I agree with mark, wolves are going to knick it and thatll go a long ways to determining the fates of each team.

    Cheers
