WC Show 2 :: The Better Half

Having got through last week’s warm-up show unscathed, which is more than can be said for a whole host of players, we tackle the second and, it must be said, superior, half of the draw. For reasons best known to FIFA, we find Brazil and Portugal, ranked 2 and 4 in the same group with whoever finishes runner-up will probalby play top seed Spain.

Utter madness, but great if you are a German, English or French supporter.

Our final warm-up before all the fun begins!

Ahhhh! The audio cuts out after 18 minutes!
Now I’ll never know who will win the “group of death”!

Actually some might say that the last 30 minutes was some of our best work…

Don’t know what happened there but the whole show is now available so please re-download.

    Hello Gents and all.

Time flew bye, and I forgot to respond to last weeks comments. And now, with tonnes of emotions, a word or 2 from me. You see, I was living in SA when th bid was won, and still got strong ties there. Never would have accepted that wild horses will keep me away. Here I am in sunny Bratislava, looking forward to watching matches in non-English commentary. I suggest we have a daily podcast !!!

I am very flattered by your projection on Slovakia – my Slovak colleagues are not even touched. Not much followership of football here and not many care a lot how the team fares. The Czechs will wish Slovakia loose all 3 matches actually. During the qualifiers, Slovakia beat Czech home and away. It’s like Wales doing a double on England !!! The most popular export actually is Marek Hamsik (Napoli). There is also a young Mr Weiss, who scored a late goal against my dear Arsenal, to bundle us out of the FA cup – how audacious!!!

You pronounce the name okay, and I am Nigerian by the way!

Thanx for your reviews on our Nigerian team. We did not beat Argentina as you said last week. We’ve met and lost to them twice in the WC but on both occasions, close matches. Maradonna actually scored in one of those matches. Watch out for Osaze Odemwingie – forward for Lokomotive, and midfielder Haruna and Idenye. These are youngsters, olympian silver-medalists . . . they lost to Argentina in the finals in China. Idenye is rumoured to be in the scope of Murinho, for Real Madrid!!!

    So,let the games begin . . . .

Got a chance to listen to the whole show. Thanks for doing these WC podcasts – good stuff.

North Korea in the finals is just so…..odd. One of my favorite docs is about North Korea (done by some Brits, I think). It’s called “A State of Mind”. After seeing their “Mass Games”, it becomes no wonder that their sports teams can be competitive, if for no other reason – their discipline. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0456012/

I look forward to the next 30 days of nothing but soccer.

Having entered the tipping comp for the first time (as just_james which is my 10 years olds user name as he was having a go at AFL) I can’t believe some of the results, I would have been better placed to have tipped the opposite every time…..did anyone get the Spain result correct??!?!!
