All I can say is you guys have had a great tournament, and deserve the ‘golden podcast’ (??) award for the show. Hope you get a break I will be looking out for your return for pre-season in early August. Thanks very much
Well, it was a hell of a ride. Thanks for the great WC podcasts. Now I will have to find something to do with my time for the next 4 years.
More than ever, many teams are having to take a long hard look at their squads. Many countries had high expectations that were smashed into cold hard bits of reality. France needs a total overhaul – out with the old, in with the new. England has to be unnerved that Rooney will still probably be their #1 striker in 2014 – how often can the wonderkid disappoint? Maybe he actually will be living out of a trailer working as grounds crew for some League Two side? Moreover, England needs to take a page out of the Dutch, Spanish and German playbooks and learn how to play like a team. Then their are the African teams who, for the most part, wasted their best chance at breaking out onto the world stage. Argentina and Brazil needed nothing short of a finals appearance to satisfy their fans. Better luck in 2014? My USA did pretty well, all things considered. We don’t have a strong team with a lot of depth, but there seems to be just enough to give good teams fits. Lets be honest, any team with Jozy Altidore as it’s #1 striker shouldn’t get to the round of 16. Donovan had a great run and deserves to go back to Everton (Dear Mr Garber of the MLS – get off your high horse and let Landon go back to Europe!)
So now we have a very interesting Premier League Season ahead of us. Honestly, I feel like the players are going to be exhausted. Friendlies have already started. US Tours will happen soon. No rest for the top players. Maybe Duff is happy that he had time to rest….ok, probably not. How will Roy do at Liverpool? Will Chelsea continue to lead the pack? Is this the year Spurs go all out and make a run for the title (could happen)? Will Man City once again spend the entire GDP of Portugal to get new super stars?
I know it’s way to early, but I’m looking forward to the tipping and the premierleague.com fantasy football. Mark, are you catching a Man U game this season?
Oh, and I guess I have to see a Red Bulls game now that Henry is in the hood.
