About
In the beginning….
A Game of Two Halves (AGOTH) is mostly the work of two Englishmen, Mark Hesketh and Chris Knowles, who now call Australia home.
Increasingly frustrated at only having Chris to talk to about football (it was soccer then but now it’s officially football down-under), Mark figured that the best way to reach more footballites was via a podcast.
So, in November 2005, Chris and Mark produced the first episode of A Game of Two Halves.
Over 150 shows later and now in its fifth season, they hope they are finally getting the hang of things to bring you a slightly different perspective on the world that is English football.
More about Mark and Chris…
Mark was born and slightly raised in Chorley, the middle of the A666 and findng it difficult to chose between being a Bolton Wanderers or Blackburn Rovers fan he instead went to the dark side and decided to follow Manchester United.
Twenty years or so in Australia has done little to dampen his loyalty and although his wife made him take down the posters from their bedroom wall, he does still sleep with a photo of Gary Neville under his pillow.
Chris is a far more of football tragic. In the later 70s his uncle conspired to take young Chris to the Goldstone Ground where he watched the mighty Seagulls trample Bristol Rovers 3-1 and thus began his life as a Brighton fan.
This was all the more depressing really as living in South London at the time, Chris could have had the choice of any number of half-decent teams but the dye had been cast. It is also unfortunate for Chris that save for an FA Cup final appearance in 1983, it has all been pretty much downhill since that win over the Rovers.
